Carl Hoyer, Senior Systems Architect Consultant
As a Partner & Senior Systems Architect Consultant for Catalyst Consulting Group, Carl Hoyer has over twenty years of leadership experience in technology risk organization design & implementation, technology controls design & implementation, network enterprise risk management, and technology risk consulting. Carl has witnessed and participated in the evolution of computing technology from the centralized mainframe architecture to the networked computing paradigm of today. His interest in computing technology started while attending University of Illinois and his first engagement with the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA).
Over his career, Carl has applied his efforts to the information technology industry with completed assignments in a diverse array of information technology disciplines including software development, system design and architecture, network operations, project planning and technology management.
Carl has an extensive knowledge base in the use of hardware and software systems when creating solutions for clients. He has an intimate knowledge of TCP/IP networking and its uses that began in 1985. Carl has multi-platform expertise involving most modern operating systems (UNIX/Linux, Windows, Mac, Embedded & Real-Time, Application Servers, SOA/ESB Systems). An extensive portfolio of programming experiences using various computer languages (BASIC/VB, Forth, C/C++/C#, Fortran, Assembler, JAVA/J2EE, JMS, Hibernate/Spring, SQL, HTML/DHTML/XHTML, CSS/DOM/XSL, XML/XSD, JavaScript/AJAX, PHP, PERL, UNIX/Windows Scripting, VBScript, Macros, SOAP/WSDL/BPEL, UML, LotusScript, PDF, Flash). Carl brings diverse database design, implementation and administration experiences with various vendors (MS SQL/Jet/Access, IBM DB2, Informix IDS/Cloudscape, Oracle, Sybase, xBase variants).
Carl has vast experience in implementing vendor supplied or in-house developed applications across many different platforms, methodologies, and enterprises. Areas of expertise include security, web delivery, data access, workflow, imaging, user interfaces, data acquisition and telemetry, SOA systems delivery, and transaction management.
Carl has conducted engagements across variety of clients. A partial list would include Colonial Bank, First Republic Bank, Trustmark National Bank, MBNA America, Illinois Credit Union League and the University of Illinois. Carl holds a BS in Chemistry from the University of Illinois.
Jeffery M. Johnson, Senior Search Consultant
Jeff Johnson brings to his position as a Senior Search Consultant over 15 years of professional business services sales experience and has spent the last 13 years as an executive recruiter providing recruiting solutions to financial services organizations of all types.
Prior to joining Catalyst, Jeff was founder of a successful consulting firm, Bancroft Career Advisors, designed to deliver professional recruiting support for his financial services clients nationwide. Before forming Bancroft, Jeff managed the Corporate Recruiting team for Chase Paymentech, the largest payment processing firm in the U.S. Jeff’s experience also includes positions with top search firms and internal HR teams and brings a broad perspective to his clients. He understands the challenges and struggles of recruiting internally for top talent and is uniquely qualified to partner with his client's current recruiting effort.
Jeff is best known for being a very strong evaluator of talent. His clients are always impressed with his professionalism and commitment to finding the best match for the experience. Jeff's style is very collaborative; service oriented, and can be tailored to suit any hiring manager. He builds trust and credibility quickly and has built strong recurring business based on results!

J. Barrett VanDame
For Catalyst, Barrett brings to his position, more than thirty years of executive sales and marketing experience across all areas of financial services, particularly in strategy and implementation, conversions and consolidations and CRM.
Barrett's principal focus is working with a diverse range of financial institution and financial services leaders to achieve alignment of their vision and business plans with strategic and organizational change initiatives. This includes revitalization of leadership commitment; process, workforce, and financial re-engineering; relationship management and customer care; and productivity improvement, cost assessment and measurement.
Prior to joining Catalyst, Barrett held the position of National Sales Executive – Payment Solutions with NCR Corporation.
